Taoiseach Simon Harris was a guest at the National Famine Commemoration in Edgeworthstown.
While he was in the county, he took time to meet with some of the Fine Gael candidates in the forthcoming Local Elections.
These whistle stop tours included visiting Newtowncashel. He became the third Taoiseach to visit the picturesque South Longford village, which is the home of Martin Skelly, who is running for the party in the Ballymahon Municipal District.
Albert Reynolds and Bertie Ahern were the other two Taoisigh to have visited.
