Funeral arrangements announced for Longford man Danny McGee who died following alleged assault in New York

A man has appeared in court in the US in connection with the death of Drumlish man Danny McGee in an alleged one punch attack outside a pub three months ago.

Steven O'Brien, 25, who lives at 42nd Street, Queens, New York is charged with assault in connection with the death of Danny McGee, from Drumlish, Co Longford on November 22 2018.

Danny was found lying unconscious outside the Gaslight Bar in Queens, New York shortly before 4am on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018.

The 21-year-old victim was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later - a post mortem found that he died due to a head injury.

Legal representatives for the Dubliner have previously been quoted as claiming Mr O’Brien would be denying any wrongdoing on his part.

“We are continuing to fight this case,” said his lawyer Matthew Gartenberg.

“Mr O'Brien is maintaining his innocence."
