Evidence of the cannabis herb discovered in Edgeworthstown yesterday
Gardaí believe they have dented the operations of a major Dublin based crime gang after officers seized an estimated €200,000 of cannabis herb during a targeted operation in Edgeworthstown yesterday.
Officers made the detection during the search of a vehicle yesterday afternoon.
It was during the course of the search that gardaí uncovered a substantial haul of cannabis herb.
Gardaí have said the find formed part of an intelligence led operation targeting a west Dublin organised crime gang and involved gardaí from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Special Crime Task Force.
A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Granard Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Investigations are continuing.
