A man originally from Moldova, now living in Longford went on Winning Streak in the place of his wife last Saturday night and did her proud after scooping €32,000 on the RTÉ 1 gameshow.

Vasile Jardan appeared on Winning Streak in the place of his wife Sylvia after the couple were shocked at Sylvia’s name being pulled out by Marty and Sinead.

They did not believe the news because they missed the TV show as their television set broke down just before Winning Streak began!

It wasn’t until a National Lottery official called on Sunday and pointed them to the Winning Streak show on the RTE Player that the couple believed the good news.

Silvia has been married to Vasile for more than four years.

They met in their native Moldova before moving to Ireland in 2013 where they settled in Longford town. Vasile was supported by close friends from Dublin and Longford in the audience in RTE on Saturday. The couple have no plans as of yet for their winnings but you can bet that a new television set will be first on their list!

Meanwhile, a brand new-look Winning Streak scratch card is now available in the 5,900 National Lottery retailers all over the country, and as well as the chance to appear on the Winning Streak TV game show, three stars will afford players a chance to win some great cash prizes of up to €5,000.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts and heritage.
