Longford County Council is warning motorists that many roads around the country remain treacherous and they are warning of the danger of snow drifts.

Here is the Council's Update as of 4.30pm on Sunday, March 4:

The following roads are closed:-

The R393 Regional Road from Carrickboy through Ratharney to County Boundary.
Robinstown Road Granard
Rhinroe Road
Ferriskill to Lisryan
Ferriskill to Browns Cross
Purth Cross to Tubber

Roads in the Newtowncashel area are very poor and extreme caution should be exercised.

Roads are still treacherous and drivers should exercise extreme caution.

A number of local roads are down to one lane in the North and South area of Longford.

While some roads may appear to be fine, drivers may turn a bend and find that the road is down to one lane because of snow drifts so we are asking again that drivers exercise extreme caution.

Roads crews will be back out again tomorrow and it is hoped that most issues will be resolved by tomorrow evening.
