BREAKING: Status Red warning for Co Longford extended to 6pm Friday evening

Birds gather for food in north Longford earlier today.

Longford’s status Red weather warning has been extended to 6pm on Friday evening.  

Met Eireann has confirmed that the status Red snow and ice warning will remain in place across Leinster and Munster until 6pm on Friday.  

The national forecaster said that after reviewing the latest weather charts, further snowfall and heavy winds are now expected throughout the day on Friday.

Met Eireann has also advised, once again, that those living in status Red areas stay indoors until the storm passes.
