'Beast from the East' already baring teeth in Longford forcing a number of event cancellations
The 'Beast from the East' and expected severe weather is already baring its teeth in Longford, with a number of event cancellations being announced in the past few hours.
Two events, one scheduled for Longford County Library on Tuesday evening and the other in Granard Library on Wednesday evening, have already been postponed due to the weather and people can expect further cancellations and disruptions over the days ahead.

Longford County Library posted on their Facebook page;
"It is with regret that Longford County Library Services must advise of the following event cancellations in Longford Branch-Library and Granard Library due to the adverse weather conditions this week.
"Firstly, 'A History of Longford Town through Maps' exhibition launch and talk by Sarah Gearty (Royal Irish Academy) and Martin Morris (County Archivist). This event was due to take place on Tuesday, February 27 at 8pm in Longford Branch Library. This event is now cancelled. We will advise of new arrangements once these have been confirmed.
"Secondly, Laura Thompson (nutritionist) was due to speak on Healthy Ireland at Granard Library on Wednesday evening, January 28 at 7pm. This has been postponed until Wednesday, March 7 at 7pm in Granard Library.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
