Longford County Childcare Committee (LCCC) will host a free event ‘Empowering Brighter Futures’ for Early Years Practitioners and Parents in the Longford Arms Hotel next Monday, December 12 from 7pm to 10pm.
Special guests and keynote speakers are John Lonergan (former Governor of Mountjoy Prison) and Dr Maresa Duignan (Department of Education and Skills).
John Lonergan, well known author, is a respected speaker on parenting issues and will make a presentation on `Parents, the challenges and the rewards`.
Dr Maresa Duignan will speak on the Department of Education and Skills focused inspections with regard to early years services.
Eimear Carron, Coordinator with Longford CCC said, “We are delighted to have two inspirational speakers coming to Longford. We hope that this will be a useful event for parents and early years practitioners alike, as we all aspire to support children preparing for their life journey.”
The Empowering Brighter Futures event is also a celebratory award ceremony to recognise participants who have completed the LCCC initiative 'Leaders in Quality' which is a continued professional development (CPD) programme.
The aim of this programme was for these services to further improve on the quality of their practice while linking to the National Framework’s Aistear and Síolta.
Nine early years services from across Co Longford participated in mentoring and needs-based training. Each early years service completed and submitted evidence of their reflective practice for assessment.
Ms Carron commented, “The level of engagement with the programme has been insurmountable, which shows the commitment from service providers and practitioners within the county to knowledge development and continued provision of high quality services for children and families.”
This promises to be a worthwhile and informative evening and LCCC invite all early years practitioners, students and parents to attend.
This is a free event and booking is available through Eventbrite on LCCC website www.longfordchildcare.ie.
