Longford has been included in the Upper Shannon Erne Future Economy (USEFE) group, which is administered out of Leitrim Co Council and seeks to promote opportunities for towns and villages in the Shannon basin.
Three Lanesboro locals, Joe O'Brien, Cathal Chapman and Sarah Kearney, are part of an initiative that will showcase the region and the advantages of living and working here at a major expo event in Croke Park on November 3.
The Lanesboro trio are now reaching out to Longfordians who have established themselves in their respective fields and who feel they may be able to get key decision makers from the business and corporate world to come to the event.
On the day, the advantages of living and working in the Shannonside region will be highlighted and it is hoped that it will be an opportunity to get in front of businesses who might well have plans to relocate or set up satellite offices.
Joe O'Brien explained: “We want to highlight the changes and offer companies and businesses the opportunity to see for themselves the benefits of living, working and carrying on business in Longford, Roscommon, Cavan and Leitrim”.
He has asked that anybody interested in attending or who can forward contact details for others who should be invited, to get in touch with him at joe@iol.ie
