Today, Wednesday, August 17 is a big day for some 577 students across Co Longford who will receive their Leaving Certificate results.
A culmination of five or six years of work, almost 58,500 students nationwide sat their Leaving Cert exams in June and will collect their results from schools this morning or view them online at www.examinations.ie from 12pm.
A helpline facility will be operating from early this morning to provide information and advice to students and parents. Facilitated by the National Parents’ Council (Post-Primary), the helpline can be reached by calling 1800 265 165.
Those who applied for a place in third level institutions through the Central Applications Office will now bide their time until Monday, when the first round of CAO offers are released.
Congratulating all students on their results, the State Examinations Commission advised all candidates to consult their Leaving Certificate Information Booklets when deciding on their next course of action. They should adhere to the instructions provided should they want to view marked scripts and appeal results.
With the exception of external candidates, all applications for viewing marked scripts should be made through the school and the deadline for the receipt of completed application forms is Tuesday, August 23. The viewing of scripts will take place on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 and students will have access to the marking schemes.
Appeals can then be made through the school, with the exception of external candidates who, as with applying to view scripts, should follow the instructions given on their provisional statement of results. All appeal applications must be with the State Examinations Commission by 5pm on Wednesday, September 7 with results to be issued in mid-October.
