Gardaí in €10k Edgeworthstown drugs haul

Up to €10,000 worth of drugs have been seized by gardai in Edgeworthstown following a planned operation last Thursday, writes Liam Cosgrove.

Members from Edgeworthstown and Granard Gardai, backed up by divisional drugs unit officers and the Garda Dog Unit discovered the haul shortly after 4pm.

In total, two houses were searched which resulted in gardai arresting a man under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A quantity of drugs was also seized, including €5,000 worth of suspected cocaine, €3,000 of suspected cannabis and €2,000 worth of ecstacy tablets.

It's understood the man who was later arrested and detained at Granard Garda Station for questioning is from the Edgeworthtown area.

He has since been released as gardai now press ahead with compiling a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
