Gardaí arrest and charge man in connection with Longford stabbing incident
Gardaí investigating a stabbing incident in Longford town have made an arrest.
A man in his 30s was assaulted in Longford Town last Thursday night and was treated in hospital for serious injuries. It is understood the stabbing occurred in the Chapel Lane area of the county town at about 8.15pm.
Gardaí carried out door-to-door enquiries throughout last Friday and investigations into the incident continued over the weekend.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed to 'Longford Live' that they had arrested a man on bank holiday Monday, February 2 in connection with the incident.
The spokesperson said, "The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on February 2, 2026 and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station in the Garda North Western Region.
"He has since been charged and is due to appear before Longford District Court on February 3."
