Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Main Street, Ballymahon, Co. Longford this evening Monday, February, 2.
The collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred at approximately 5.15pm.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 80s was removed from the scene to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment of injuries believed to be serious.
The driver of the car, an adult male, aged in his late teens, was uninjured.
The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct a technical examination of the scene on Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
