Members of Longford IFA along with representatives of Longford County Council and Longford Community Gardaí were in attendance at the launch of the Irish Farmers Association 'No Dogs Allowed' campaign.
The initiative, the launch of which was held recently in Abbeyshrule and attended by IFA President Francie Gorman, aims to reinforce the message responsible dog ownership.
With lambing season about to kick off for many farmers in the county, dog owners are being reminded to keep their pets under control particularly in rural areas where ewes may be in-lamb.

Dogs chasing sheep can result in ewes miscarrying their lambs due to the shock, panic and physical stress of being chased by dogs.
Longford Gardaí also reminded the public that dog owners can and will be prosecuted and held financially liable for damage to sheep or lambs.
Dog owners are asked not to allow their dog to roam freely in rural areas and to keep them on a leash when out walking.
