A motorist was discovered driving while disqualified last Saturday after an ANPR alert initially notified Longford’s Roads Policing unit of their car having no insurance.
Once the driver was pulled over, they were asked to submit an oral fluid test, which, according to a social media post by Longford Gardaí, “tested positive for Cannabis.”
It was then Gardaí discovered the individual in question was a disqualified driver, and in addition to not having insurance, also did not have motor tax or an NCT.
The driver, whose car was seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act, was immediately arrested and brought to Longford Garda Station where they provided a blood sample.
The individual has since been charged to appear before Longford District Court. According to Gardaí, there may be possible further charges pending analysis of the blood sample.
