Longford poet to feature in special podcast on Poetry Day Ireland 2024

This Thursday, April 25, is Poetry Day Ireland 2024.

To mark the occasion Eat the Storms, the poetry podcast, host an All-Ireland Poetic Relay Race.


Eat the Storms presents a special episode featuring 32 poets, each representing one of the 32 counties on the island of Ireland, each reading one poem for their county, passing from county to county in a poetic relay race.


Host and writer Damien B Donnelly produces the episode following on from the success of last year’s initiative.

Anne Tully will represent Longford. Anne is a teacher of English and History in Ballymahon Vocational School.

She is also involved with Ballinalee Players and has a long association with Leinster’s longest running literary event The Goldsmith Festival.

Married to John Sheridan and mother to Matthew, Mary and John the Longford woman is also involved in farming and sits on the national IFA Business Committee.

Her poem is a tribute to the almost forgotten tradition of fair days and her heritage as a dealers daughter.
