Davóg Rynne will visit Longford this week for two intimate acoustic performances
International touring artist, multi-instrumental musician, singer and storyteller, Davóg Rynne will visit Longford this week for two intimate acoustic performances.
Multi-instrumental musician and stage performer Davóg Rynne was born in 1968 into a family deeply rooted in Irish music.
Son of the talented singer Anne Rynne and tin whistle player and folklorist Davoc Rynne, he unquestionably has music and performance in his blood. In addition, his uncles Christy Moore and Luka Bloom are esteemed musicians who have given Davóg a very rich musical legacy.
Speaking on his upcoming Irish tour Davóg says, "It’s always nice to play to the home crowd - the energy is different and I don’t have to explain as much as I do abroad.’’
With a background in theatre, Davóg has extensively worked on many high profile productions internationally, in France, where he lives, and in Ireland where it all began! These include but are not limited to Theatre National Populaire, Festival de Jazz à Vienne, Imagination (UK), The Gaiety Theatre and The Abbey Theatre.
Longford creative and arts facilitator Déirdre Orme is delighted to welcome Davóg to the heartland.
She said, ''The buzz in this region at the moment is unreal. Coming off the back of the most successful Granard Booktown, we will host Davóg Rynne in Granard Townhall with kind permission of Longford Library Services on Thursday, April 25 at 7.30pm. Tickets are €10, available from Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre.''
On Friday, April 26, Davóg will play for a community gathering in the Green, Edgeworthstown.
Ms Orme remarked, “Edgeworthstown is clearly becoming the cultural capital of the county. I'm delighted to be involved in the Creative Places Edgeworthstown project and to bring Davóg Rynne here to host a Creative Cruinniú on Friday at 7.30pm.
“Creative Places is a new initiative devised by the Arts Council and facilitated by Longford Arts Office. The programme aims to encourage the community to explore, discuss and plan a range of creative and participatory projects for local people.
“It builds on existing cultural strengths and is led by community participation. Everyone interested in the Creative Places Edgeworthstown project is invited to the Green this Friday at 7.30pm.''
The Clare man, now based in the beautiful Beaujolais region of France, arrives in Longford fresh from his sell-out German tour and having released his highly anticipated album - Are we doing well? last month.
The intimate acoustic gigs in Granard and Edgeworthstown are set to captivate and enthrall all who are lucky enough to attend.
