A large crowd gathered in Creegan’s of Bunlahy last Thursday night to launch the Longford Ploughing Championships 2024 and offer their support to the event.
Niall and Paul Belton are hosting the flagship event in Bunlahy on Sunday, March 24. The main sponsor is Midland Agri Consultants, Granard.
An exciting programme of family entertainment and fun activities is organised for Longford’s annual ploughing festival, an event which attracts thousands of returning visitors every year.

Peter Costello and Aisling Rynn are performing live on stage from noon and A&C Jiving will give outdoor dancing lessons and judge the dancing competition.
Longford Ploughing Association PRO Luke Casey explained, “All the usual tractor, horse and vintage ploughing competitions will feature alongside a loy dig and the big annual trade and machinery exhibition.

“For the first time ever at the Ploughing, Longford Pony Club will have a spectacular fun arena with members tackling novelty challenges. Even ‘Donkey’ from Grassmen is coming to Bunlahy. Step up a few gears with ‘Farmer Phil’ and ‘Donkey’ or relax for a while at the ever popular Dog Show. Whatever your pace there is lots to enjoy at Ireland's largest springtime ploughing festival, Longford Ploughing.”
