'Great things must come to an end,' as Longford chairperson and secretary retire from roles

Leebeen Park

Great things must come to an end and unfortunately, Leebeen Park Development CLG were sad to learn at the recent AGM that their Chairperson Gearoid Mulligan and Secretary Catherine Reid have decided to retire from their roles.

Both Gearoid & Catherine have been two of the very solid cornerstones of Leebeen Park from its very inception in 2002 and have worked tirelessly behind the scenes from park maintenance and finance to ensuring the park adheres to compliance and good governance and is maintained to a standard the public deserve.

Everybody was very proud of Catherine when she was rightfully recognised for her commitment in the Recreation & Sport Volunteer Awards 2021.

Currently Leebeen Park is partly as a result of over 20 years of dedication from these two exceptional volunteers and everybody is eternally grateful to Gearoid & Catherine for their leadership, wisdom & vision and hours of hard work in order to create a destination not only for our parish but also for people from miles around.

A community thanks you. The election of officers took place at the AGM and the following were unanimously selected   Chairperson -Joe Mulligan, Vice Chairperson – Dave Donnelly, Secretary - Frances Kennedy and joint Treasurers are Anna McKeon and Rosario Rabbitt.

Paul Kennedy will take the role of overseer of work and development in Leebeen. Hopefully the park will continue to be developed and act as a safe place for all those who enjoy the scenic walkways.
