Open for applications for Longford clubs: Club Development and Volunteer Supports Scheme

Longford Sports Partnership, as part of Longford County Council, is pleased to invite applications for the Club Development and Volunteer Supports scheme for 2023. The scheme is funded by Sport Ireland.

Funding under the scheme is available for sports organisations aiming to increase participation in sport and physical activity through innovative initiatives. The maximum grant is €500 for club development, which includes equipment and €500 for volunteer supports, which includes coaching. Expenditure already spent in 2023 can be included in the application.

Welcoming the funding scheme, Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Colm Murray paid tribute to the work of local sporting organisations, “The hardworking volunteers behind the clubs and sporting organisations of our towns and villages are at the heart of our communities. They’re valuable work is what makes County Longford so vibrant. I encourage all clubs and organisations to apply for this scheme to help them continue with the important work that they do in our communities in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.”

Applications are particularly welcome from new clubs or clubs involved in minority sports. Applications are also welcome from projects targeting groups who have low levels of participation, including older people, girls and women, people with disabilities, unemployed people and those who live in identified disadvantaged communities.

To be eligible for this scheme, sports clubs must be registered with County Longford Public Participation Network (PPN). To register, visit Longfordppn.ie. Alternatively, see the Club Development and Volunteer Supports scheme application form for County Longford PPN contact details.
The closing date for completed applications is 5pm on Tuesday, 31 October. Late applications will not be considered. Application forms are available to download on Longfordsports.ie.
