UPDATE: Gardaí launch public appeal following Longford town armed robbery

Gardaí have launched a public appeal for information following an armed robbery at a shop in Longford town yesterday.

 

As revealed by longfordleader.ie this morning, detectives have begun enquiries into the circumstances behind an incident at a business premises at around 10am yesterday.

A masked robber entered the store brandishing a knife before making a demand for cash.

The Leader understands the raider was forced to flee with only a small number of items taken from inside the shop moments later.

Detectives are now hoping CCTV footage taken from the scene, allied to a public appeal will prove crucial in identifying the male suspect

"Gardaí in Longford attended the scene of an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, 15th August 2023 at approximately 10a.m," said a garda spokesperson.

"One man entered a business premises on Earl Street, Longford armed with a knife and threatened staff and demanded money. No cash was handed over but some items were taken and no persons were injured.

"Gardaí are appealing to any persons or road users who were in or around Earl Street, Longford yesterday morning Tuesday 15th August, between 9.30a.m. and 10.15a.m. and who may have video/dash cam footage or anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to them
