A man charged with allegedly confronting a lorry driver with a nine-inch kitchen knife during a road rage incident in Co Longford last year is to have his case heard in October.
Valquir Borges, aged 51 of The Hawthorns, Clonbalt Woods, Longford, stands charged with producing a knife during the course of a dispute along the N4 at Edgeworthstown, Co Longford on 23 September 2022.
The case was initially aired in open court last December when Garda Padraig Nolan gave State evidence of how the alleged incident unfolded.
The episode stemmed from an alleged "road rage" incident after the accused allegedly pulled in front of a lorry.
He said the lorry driver sounded the horn of his vehicle before both men pulled in and got out of their vehicles.
Garda Nolan said as the lorry driver went to approach the accused man's car, Mr Borges exited his own vehicle armed with a large knife.
The court heard that the lorry driver allegedly retreated to his own vehicle and drove away seconds later.
The court was informed dash cam footage relating to the incident would also form part of the prosecution's case.
Mr Borges has entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
At a sitting of Longford District Court last Tuesday, it was confirmed the case would be going forward for a fully contested hearing and would take up to an hour to complete.
Judge Owens adjourned the matter until a sitting of Longford District Court on October 24.
