The Ballinamuck Olde Fair Day returns this Sunday, July 16 after a Covid enforced absence and organisers are looking forward to welcoming a large crowd to the village for the first Olde Fair Day since 2019.

Proceedings commence at 1pm with a parade of some fine vintage tractors, cars and bikes participating and they will be led by The Longford Pipe Band to the Olde Fair Day field, located beside the 98 Bar.

Live music will start off with ‘Nite Fever’, followed by Bríd Shaughnessy of TG4 Glór Tíre fame and followed by DJ Pete Masterson.

There will be lots of activities for children, including a puppet show, face painting, bungee trampolines, dinky diggers and much more.

For the older generation, the most popular activity is the ‘ducking chair’ which in previous years attracted big crowds hoping to duck some of Ballinamuck’s local characters.

Johnny's Cottage
There is also Johnny’s Cottage which was restored to replicate a traditional thatched Cottage, so why not drop in for some homemade bread and butter. There are also fun games like guessing the weight of the heifer and cow bingo.

Organisers of Ballinamuck’s Olde Fair Day say visitors won’t go hungry either with freshly cooked boxty available, as well as refreshments from the Ballinamuck ICA ladies, including tea, scones, homemade brown bread, cakes and buns.

Back by popular demand this year is the Dog Show and please check the Ballinamuck Olde Fair Day facebook page for more details, and please note some restrictions will apply.

There are still some stall spaces available and if anyone is interested in having a stall on the day, please contact any committee member or text 087 294 1226.

Raffle
Raffle tickets will be on sale with some fantastic prizes on offer, such as a 1st prize €300, 2nd Load of Turf, 3rd Load of sticks and many more.

Every year, the organising committee are fortunate to be able to donate some of the monies raised to local clubs and groups, and worthy charities, and this year will be no exception.

Safety, as with all events of this nature, is the organiser’s biggest priority and for everybody’s safety please obey the stewards. There will be lots of parking available beside the Olde Fair Day field. Parking will be signposted and parking restrictions will be in operation to facilitate the vintage display.

For a great day out, Ballinamuck Olde Fair Day is the place to be on Sunday, July 16.
