A Longford man currently before the courts on a string of trespassing charges has been told to continue to abide by stringent bail conditions.

Robert O'Haire (41) 3 Camlin Mews, Longford, was warned of the potential repercussions awaiting him if he is found to have breached the terms of his bail at last week's District Court sitting.

The Longford man is facing a succession of alleged offences between June 6 and June 9 last.

The first alleged offence took place on the former mentioned date when the accused allegedly entered the curtilage of a building at Lamagh, Newtownforbes, Co Longford.

Three days later, Mr O'Haire allegedly returned to the mid Longford village to enter the surrounds of two further private properties as well as Scoil Mhuire.

It was during the latter incident that Mr O'Haire was also allegedly found with a hoody, snood, torch, backpack and gloves.

That charge alleges that Mr O'Haire had those items with the intention of using them during the course of a theft or burglary contrary to Section 15 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

Mr O'Haire had previously appeared in court earlier this month and was granted bail subject to a string of conditions, among which included a curfew and an order to stay out of Newtownforbes.

When the case was called before presiding Judge Bernadette Owens last week, it was revealed directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was still awaited.

Frank Gearty, defending, said Mr O'Haire was very much adhering to the court's conditions and was attending an addiction counsellor.

Longford's Cian’s Kennels in bid to open in new Children’s Hospital

Longford couple Evelyn and Enda Neary opened Cian’s Kennels on May 20, 2022, in memory of their son Cian, who passed away from a rare form of cancer in September 2019, aged just 15.

Judge Owens, however, wasted little time in impressing upon Mr O'Haire the ramifications that awaited him should there be any reported breaches of bail.

“If there is one falter on compliance with his bail conditions, I am sure the Gardaí will seek to re-enter the matter,” she said.

Mr O'Haire was remanded on continuing bail to appear back at a sitting of Longford District Court on September 5.
