Josh Maguire leaving Longford Courthouse today
A teenager has appeared in court charged in connection to a violent brawl inside a shop in Longford town shop last month.
Nineteen-year-old Josh Maguire, 4 Ardeevan, Ardnacassa, Longford pleaded guilty at a sitting of Longford District Court today to engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour and committing criminal damage at Spar, 11 Main Street, Longford on April 21, 2023.
Gardaí had previously launched an investigation into the incident after two young men were alleged to have suddenly began exchanging punches inside the door of the main street establishment.
Mr Maguire, who was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit remained silent throughout today’s hearing before Judge Bernadette Owens.
His solicitor, Bríd Mimnagh said Mr Maguire was anxious to dispose of the case as speedily as possible and would be seeking a short adjournment in order to hand in €200 in compensation.
A second co-accused teenager, Toluwalope Onayemi (19) 31 Kilglass, Gleann Riada, Strokestown Road, Longford is due to appear on June 20 next after his case was adjourned at last week’s District Court sitting.
Like Mr Maguire, he is charged with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour and causing criminal damage.
