Anyone who has ever experienced the sheer joy of watching Pat Kinnevane as he manipulates an audience will be thrilled to hear he returns to Backstage this week.
The Olivier award winning actor and writer is back in Longford with a mesmerising performance in his latest play 'King'. King tells the story of Luther, a man from Cork named in honour of his Granny Bee Baw’s hero, Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
Luther only leaves his apartment for essential journeys, and to perform as an Elvis impersonator. The play explores prejudice, privilege, and resilience, as Luther struggles to live life to the full.
Kinnevane is one of Ireland's finest stage performers. His shows are an education in stagecraft and how to tell a simple story that enriches the viewer.
Fishamble and Pat Kinevane previously collaborated on Forgotten, silent, Underneath, and Before, which have won major international awards including Olivier, Fringe First, Herald Archangel, Adelaide Fringe, and Helen Hayes awards.
Now, Fishamble and Pat Kinevane, under the direction of Jim Culleton, and with music by Denis Clohessy, return with this very special fifth solo play.
Fishamble is passionate about discovering, developing and producing new plays of national importance with a global reach, while championing the role of the playwright.
This is an unmissable show for anyone who enjoys theatre. Tickets for King at Backstage Theatre on Wednesday, March 15 are available on 043 33 47888 or backstage.ie
