Longford historian and author to give Carrick-on-Shannon lecture on The Shooting of More O’Ferrall

Longford historian and author to give Carrick-on-Shannon lecture on The Shooting of More O’Ferrall

Martin Morris, Longford County Archivist, Lucy More O'Ferrall, Seán Ó Súilleabháin and Brian More O'Ferrall (whose father was a first cousin of the man who was shot dead)

Some weeks ago, Seán Ó Súilleabháin gave a talk in Edgeworthstown Library on the shooting of Richard More O’Ferrall in 1935.

The talk drew a particularly large crowd which included relatives of the man who was killed on that fateful night, including Lucy More O'Ferrall and Brian More O'Ferrall (whose father was a first cousin of the man who was shot dead).

On Wednesday next, March 15, a similar lecture will be given by Seán Ó Súilleabháin in Carrick-on-Shannon in St George’s Heritage Centre in the town, starting at 8.00pm.

This will be of great interest to Leitrim people as three Leitrim men were charged with the killing and could have been executed if found guilty.

This event is being hosted by Carrick-on-Shannon and District Historical Society and all are welcome to attend. There is an admission charge of €5, with members of the Historical Society free. Beidh fáilte roimh gach duine.
