Ciarán Kavanagh gave us his opinions on the upcoming election.

“Now it doesn’t affect me but TB is a big issue in certain farms and parts of Longford, there’s a lack of funding, the TB scheme has been in place since 1954 and it’s gotten no further on after 70 years.

“There are people in dire straits with it, it affects their income, it affects them mentally and physically, that’s one big issue I have,” he explains.

Ciarán would also like to see a movement encouraging more young people to get into farming.

“Farmers are kind of a dying breed, young people aren’t interested I don’t know how we’d get them back into it.”

“I’d be happy enough with the Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael arrangement but not the Green Party.

“The Greens bring in electric cars, they’re a disaster, they want to stop people from cutting the turf in the bog, so what are they going to heat their houses with?”
