A father of four living in county Longford who is battling cancer has made a heartfelt appeal for people to help his family with contributions towards 'enormous' treatment costs of €70,000.
Victor Kristof and his wife Annette are based in Granard and she runs Annette Aesthetics Clinic on Lower Main Street and they are well-known members of the community.
Annette launched a GoFundMe page last week to raise funds and by Tuesday the campaign had collected more than €9,000 of an €18,000 target.
On the page Victor explained the reason they decided to appeal for money to help him acquire the best possible treatment.
"I am writing to you with a heavy heart on behalf of my family and myself.
"Our once joyful life has suddenly become a nightmare as I have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
"My mother passed away from the same disease at the age of 55, and now it has unexpectedly attacked me."
Victor, whose youngest child is a one year-old daughter, stated he is currently experiencing terrible pain, sudden weight loss, nausea, and a loss of both fat and muscle tissue.
"In just four weeks, I have lost 15 kilograms, making it difficult for me to even walk 200 meters or return to work.
"As a father, my biggest concern is the future of my children.
"Two of them struggle with autism, and I want to provide them with the best possible life.
"However, my health and life are at risk now, and time is not on our side.
"The treatment I need comes with enormous costs – 70,000 euros, which far exceeds our financial capabilities."
Victor said every day brings new challenges for them and his weight loss is deeply concerning for his family and he is sincerely appealing to the public for help.
"Every contribution, no matter how small, will mean the world to us. Together, we can fight for my health and give my children a chance for a better future.
"Your support will give us hope to overcome this difficult time. Thank you in advance for any form of assistance. Together, we can create miracles."
Victor's wife Annette said her husband's illness has placed an "enormous strain on our family both emotionally and financially.
"Each day we grapple with uncertainty and fear as we watch Viktor losing weight drastically - he currently weighs only 65.8kg. The loss of muscle and body tissue is a significant concern for us.
"Viktor is receiving private treatment in Poland, which comes with enormous costs. Just the rent for an apartment near the hospital, costs us 2400 euros a month. In Ireland, we are dealing with mortgage payments, my work place rent, electricity bills, and other expenses and i currently cant work as i have to care for Viktor and kids.
"Our savings are running low. "I ask you, dear readers, for help."
Annette told the Longford Leader every contribution, every prayer and every share of the fundraiser counts.
"Together, we can help Viktor in this difficult fight for life and give our family a chance for a better tomorrow." If anyone would like to donate they can logon to https://www.gofundme .com /f/k5f9y-help-me-fight- pancreatic-cancer?
