Longford look set to be without captain Donal McElligott for the Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-final against Kildare or Wicklow on Sunday 26 May.

The GAA's Central Hearings Committee have handed the defender a one-match suspension following his red card in Longford's Allianz Football League Division 3 defeat to Westmeath in Mullingar at the end of March

The rule in question was “Behaving in any way which is dangerous to an opponent”.

The Mullinalaghta man can still take his case to the Central Appeals Committee and Longford GAA have confirmed that they will be appealing the suspension.
