Three first half goals set a strong Meath side on their way to a comfortable victory over Longford in Division 3 of the Ladies Football National League at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.

Meath . . . 5-12      Longford . . . 1-12

Meath are top of the table and favourites to win the title and on this evidence of this emphatic display it’s no surprise.

Longford tried hard to remain in contention but the goals came at crucial stages and the third one was a real killer blow with Meath going in at the break 10 points in front, 3-9 to 0-8.

Despite the defeat there are positives to take out of the game and also some things that Longford will need to work on.

Aisling Greene scored a consolation goal for the home county in the closing stages of the game.
