A strong second half performance saw the Longford senior hurlers make it two wins from two fixtures in Division 3B of the National Hurling League as they proved too good for Leitrim at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.

Longford . . . 2-18     Leitrim . . . 0-16

Aided by a strong wind in the second half Longford used the elements well. Cathal Mullane got their first goal in the 58th minute when he scored from a penalty and Reuben Murray got the second goal in the 64th minute with a fine finish.

In a tight first half Longford started well but Leitrim hit back and trailed by just the minimum of margins at the break, 0-7 to 0-6. Longford upped their performance in the second half and ran out deserving winners with the comfortable margin of eight points to spare in the end.
