For the second year in succession, Longford Slashers will make the short trip to Mullingar to confront the challenge of Garrycastle in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. At stake on Sunday next at Cusack Park is a semi-final spot against Athy (Kildare), Edenderry (Offaly) or Old Leighlin (Carlow).
Therefore, one of those five clubs will contest the provincial decider on December 18th and that is a favourable situation for all concerned when you take into account that the title favourites Portlaoise and the Dublin champions (St. Brigid’s) are pitted in what is undoubtedly the most difficult half of the draw.
