Longford clinched their place in the knockout stage of the National Hurling League Division 3B with a narrow win over Leitrim in an entertaining encounter at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.
Longford . . . 1-15 Leitrim . . . 1-14
Adrian Moran’s men had to dig deep into their reserves to overcome the neighbouring rivals. Longford had led by 1-8 to 0-9 at half-time with Cathal Mullane scoring the goal just before the break and the second half proved to be just as tight.
Leitrim also progress to the knockout stage despite this defeat and it looks likely that they will meet Longford again in the league semi-final.
