The Longford senior hurlers gained their first win in Division 3B of the National League when they overcame the challenge of the Exiles Lancashire on a 1-26 to 3-11 scoreline at the GAA Centre of Excellence in Abbotstown, Dublin on Sunday last.
The chief marksman, once again, was the deadly accurate Joe O’Brien who fired over a total of 11 points in a positive result for the new manager Adrian Moran.
Longford can now look forward to a clash against neighbouring rivals Leitrim in the next round at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday, throw-in 2pm, and will almost certainly clinch their place in the knockout stage should they register another victory.
The top team in Division 3B will qualify directly for the league title decider while the second and third placed teams will meet in the semi-final.
LONGFORD (v Lancashire): C Gallagher; N Moran, E Naughton, J Casey; A Quinn, D Buckley, K Murray; J Mulhern, P Lynam; E Corrigan, J O’Brien, C Kavanagh; R Murray, C Mullane, M Mulcahy.
Subs:- K Cox for J Casey (half-time); A Sheridan for N Moran (69 mins); E Tully for C Mullane (70 mins).
