For the second time this season Longford will be in competitive action at McGovern Park in Ruislip and on this occasion it is the ladies football squad who are making the trip to take on London in the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship.
The confidence factor received a major boost with the crucial 2-6 to 1-5 win over Carlow at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday last and Brian Farrell’s improving team are now in a strong position to qualify for the semi-finals.
Taking into account that London were hammered by both Carlow and Antrim, the general opinion is that Longford are expected to emerge victorious in Ruislip with considerable comfort and consolidate the second spot in Group 2.
The remaining fixture in the group stage is the meeting of Carlow and the already qualified Antrim at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday June 29th and barring a surprise home win it is Longford who will progress to the last four in their fierce desire for a Croke Park final appearance.
Following the hard earned win for the Longford senior footballers in the National League Division 4 clash in Ruislip at the beginning of March, it should be a straight forward task for the girls in blue and gold with the Round 3 game against London scheduled for Saturday evening, throw-in 6pm.
