Fr Manning Gaels clubman Michael Mulleady, the outgoing Planning & Training Officer, has made an immediate return to the Longford GAA Executive after defeating Albert Cooney (Rathcline) and Damien Edgeworth (St Brigid’s Killashee) in the contest for Vice-Chairperson.

Mulleady was elected on the first count with 44 votes after exceeding the quota (41) ahead of Cooney (22 votes) and Edgeworth (14 votes) at the annual Convention staged in St Mary’s Parish Hall in Lanesboro on Thursday night last.

The outgoing Chairperson Cooney stepped down from the top post after completing the maximum five years term in the ‘hot seat’, now occupied by Ballymore clubman and Ballymahon native Derek Fahy who was elected unopposed to hold this prestigious position.

In the only other contest for a place on the 2025 executive, Eamon Brennan (Grattans) and outgoing  PRO Gerry Forde (Ardagh Moydow) were successful in securing the two Leinster Council Representatives with the outgoing Treasurer Eugene Quaine (Carrickedmond) losing out.

Both Brennan (34 votes) and Forde (28 votes) were elected after reaching the quota of 28 with Quaine ending up with 18 votes.
