St. Helen’s clinched the Junior ‘B’ title with a comprehensive win over Rathcline in Emmet Park on Sunday.
The Drumlish/Ballinamuck girls were in control throughout, despite a brave effort from the South Longford side.
It is apt that St Helen’s took the crown, 30 years on from a senior championship success. Rathcline also have an illustrious past in the senior grade, but it was not to be their day.
Played in wet and stormy conditions, St Helen’s got off to a good start and built on that platform.
Player of the match Mia Kiernan (who scored two goals) and Leah Donnelly (scorer of 3-3) were dominant figures for the winners.
St Helen’s led by 3-6 to 0-4 at half-time. Rathcline battled hard in the second half but Helen’s added three further goals to assert their dominance.
