Connolly Cup
In the aftermath of the Longford GAA Competitions Control Committee (CCC) decision to award Mullinalaghta the win in the hotly debated ‘draw’ against Carrickedmond in the current Senior Football Championship controversy, the subsequent appeal by the South Longford club will be dealt with by the Leinster GAA Hearings Committee this Saturday morning, starting at 10am.
The Longford CCC are sticking to the schedule of playing the revised quarter-finals at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park this weekend and are adamant that the four games will go ahead which will happen if the Carrickedmond appeal to the provincial council is rejected.
At the moment, Carrick are eliminated from the championship (replaced by Dromard) and Eugene McCormack's side are scheduled to meet Longford Slashers in an ‘extra’ relegation play-off at the Monaduff grounds (Drumlish) this Saturday night (throw-in 8.15pm) as both clubs finished deadlock on four points in the revised Group B table and cannot be separated with their clash in the group stage ending in a draw and identical scores.
The winners play Kenagh and the losers meet Mostrim to determine which two clubs are demoted to the Intermediate Championship.
The revised Peter Hanley Motors SFC quarter-finals are as follows:
Saturday 14 September
Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Killoe Emmet Og v Dromard, 4.45pm
Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Clonguish v Colmcille, 6.15pm
Sunday 15 September
Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Mullinalaghta St. Columba’s v St. Mary’s Granard, 3.30pm
Glennon Brothers Pearse Park: Abbeylara v Rathcline, 5.15pm
