The 2024 Droplink sponsored Longford Ladies Football Championships start this weekend with some interesting games down for decision and seeking a record breaking six-in-a-row of senior titles are the all conquering Longford Slashers squad.

There are five teams competing for the Alison Smyth Cup - Slashers, Clonguish, Carrickedmond, Killoe and St. Brigid’s Gaels Ardagh. They will play each other once in the round-robin group stages. The final takes place on October 5th.

Four teams will compete for the Intermediate Championship title - St. Brigid’s Gaels Ardagh (holders), Killoe, Carrickedmond and Mostrim. Therefore, Ardagh, Killoe and Carrickedmond will be fielding the same first choice teams in the Senior and Intermediate competitions so plenty of games for those three clubs.

The Intermediate final for the Leah Sheridan Cup will also take place on October 5th, providing Ardagh, Killoe or Carrickedmond do not reach the senior title decider

The Junior ‘A’ Championship will be contested by Grattans, Mullinalaghta, Ballymore, Colmcille, Ballymahon/Forgney and Dromard.

The Junior ‘B’ Championship will be contested by St. Brigid’s Gaels Ardagh, Sean Connolly’s, Rathcline and St. Helen’s Drumlish/Ballinamuck.
