In a tale of the unexpected, Clonguish crashed to a surprise defeat against Carrickedmond in Round 2 of the Longford Senior Football Championship and the pressure is mounting on last year’s beaten finalists.
Injury hit Clonguish have failed to register a win so far in the so called ‘group of death’ but will be hoping to get back on track against Mullinalaghta who are in much the same situation after drawing with Dromard and Abbeylara and are understrength at the moment.
The losers of the Clonguish v St Columba’s clash at the Monaduff grounds in Drumlish on Saturday evening will be in serious trouble and the same must be said about Slashers who are also without a victory in the current campaign.
Carrickedmond will be on a high in the aftermath of their excellent result against Clonguish and will certainly not fear Slashers in another crunch game at McGann Park in Kenagh on Friday evening.
Another packed programme of championship games are down for decision this weekend with Granard badly in need of a win against Colmcille in the overall fierce battle for places in the quarter-finals of the Connolly Cup.
