Granard . . . 5-6 St Dominic’s Kenagh . . . 3-5
These are exciting times for Granard football in the aftermath of their first senior success in 30 years as a significant underage league title was won on Wednesday evening.
There was more joy for the St Mary’s club steeped in tradition as their talented U-14 team defeated St Dominic’s Kenagh by a couple of goals in the Division 1 League Final at the Higginstown grounds.
Inspired by the senior side who collected the Johnny Skelly Cup after finishing top of the table in the Division 1 league, the Granard U-14 footballers emerged victorious under the guidance of their mentors Niall Sheridan and Niall Neilon.
It was a worthy win and a proud moment for the captain Patrick Kelly who was presented with the trophy by Longford GAA Coaching and Games Development Officer Tommy McLoughlin.
