Mostrim netted 5 goals as they easily overcame the challenge of Ballymahon in the Senior Football Championship Group 1 Round 3 clash at Michael Moran Park in Carrickedmond on Saturday evening last.

Mostrim . . . 5-11   Ballymahon . . . 1-8

A brace of quick-fire green flags from Tiarnan Hussey just before the break gave the Edgeworthstown side a comfortable 12 point lead at half-time, 4-5 to 0-5. The two goals crucially came from silly Ballymahon mistakes and that was the order of the day as Mostrim continually punished their opponents errors.

The loss of former county player Kevin Diffley on a transfer to Kilcock as well as the retirements of Mark Connor, James Kenny and Emmet Finn have been felt firmly by last year’s Intermediate champions.

The young Ballymahon side will be proud of their improved efforts in this outing in tallying their highest total so far in the championship as well as raising their first green flag. Daniel Steele’s thundering effort into the top corner of the net gave the Mostrim keeper Caolan Hussey no chance.
