Longford . . . 1-11 Carlow . . . 0-8
While both counties were out of the provincial championship going into this nothing at stake game, the victory was still a boost for Longford in the build up to the start of the All-Ireland Intermediate Series on Sunday June 11.
After losing to Wexford and Kildare in the Leinster group stage, Longford improved considerably to conquer Carow and there were stand out displays from defender Leanne Keegan and attacker Teni Alaba.
Particularly prominent in the scoring department was midfielder Grace Shannon who fired over a total of eight points (four frees).
Longford led by 1-5 to 0-3 at the break with Clodagh Lohan scoring the goal and the midlanders managed to consolidate their tight grip on the match in the second half despite a sin bin (three ticks) for Keegan in the 50th minute.
