Samaritans provide emotional support for those in distress and a non-judgmental service
Athlone & Midland branch of Samaritans in Ireland is situated at 3 Court Devenish Athlone. This is a very busy centre and received 1800 contacts in January alone, the majority of which were phone calls but also included some ”in person callers” and SMS – texts. Samaritans provide emotional support for those in distress and a non-judgmental service.
Lead volunteer and Director Aisling Curley is very grateful for the huge public support and response to the branch’s recent fundraising initiatives. The branch, however, needs more volunteers to meet with face to face callers and answer telephone calls and texts to the centre. Full training and support is provided to volunteers. Aisling had great praise for the commitment and support of the current volunteers but more help is needed to sustain the valuable work at Samaritan house.
Information meetings will be held in the Samaritan House Court Devenish on Sunday 24th February at 2 pm and Monday 25th February at 11 am. All enquires to 0872995728
