Longford #LE24: Second recount in Ballymahon as just one vote separates candidates again!

Sitting Councillor Colm Murray of Fine Gael is set to survive for another count after he edged ahead of Sinn Fein's John Rooney by one vote - but a check is underway

Drama continues to unfold in the Ballymahon Municipal District count as sitting Cllr Colm Murray has edged ahead of Sinn Fein's John Rooney by just one vote. 

However, returning officer Mary Gouldsbury has confirmed that she has agreed to a request for a recount. 

She said this recount will involve the parcels and sub parcels since the previous recount.  

Cllr Murray was understood to be in a dogfight to retain his seat, but no-one predicted it would go this close. 

A full recount has already taken place earlier this morning for the Ballymahon Local Electoral Area before the exclusion of sitting councillor, Gerald Farrell was confirmed.
