The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 of Mary Lyons (nee Tiernan) (Publican), Main Street, Longford and formerly of Bridge Street, Longford.
Pre-deceased by her parents Pat and Christina and by her husband John. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughter Anne-Marie, sons Joe, Brian and John, daughters-in-law Maria and Andrea, son-in-law Raymond, sisters Deirdre (Tazmania), Jean (U.K.) and Yvonne (Sligo), brothers Micheál (Florida) and John (Mayo), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, January 7 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of The Resurrection on Monday, January 8 at 11am in St. Mel’s Cathedral, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully at his home on Friday, January 5, 2024 of Philip (Phil) McGauran, Cornadrung, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Sadly missed by his devoted family; his loving wife Violet, his sons and daughters; Matt (Cheryl), Andrew (Deirdre), Philip, Mairéad Devery (Oliver), Mary J. Carrig (Stephen), Patrick (Marguerite), Bernadette Mc Kenna (Patrick), his sister Margaret Reilly (Cloughernal), his 12 grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at his residence in Aughnacliffe (N39C7F6) on Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7 from 3pm-7pm with removal from his home on Monday, January 8 to arrive at St Colmcille's Church, Aughnacliffe, for requiem mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers please. House private at all other times. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam dílis.
Sr Rose Macken, Our Lady's Manor, Edgeworthstown, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital, on Thursday, January 4, 2024 of Sr Rose Macken, Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford and formerly of Dublin Street, Longford and Convent of Mercy, Longford. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Rosetta, brothers baby Patrick Joseph and JJ. Sr Rose will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Áine, nephews Anthony, James, Joseph and John, her niece Maria, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members and by the Sisters of Mercy, Western Province, past pupils and many friends. The death occurred peacefully in the loving and tender care of the staff at Cluain Lir Care Centre, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 4, 2024 of Elizabeth (Bessie) Lee (nee McGovern) Barrack Street, Granard, Co Longford.
Predeceased by her husband James, baby infant Michael, parents Hugh and Kate Mc Govern, brothers Peter, Paddy and Hugh, and her sister Mary Kelliher. Bessie will be sorely missed by her sons, Seamus (Kathleen), John (Roisin), and daughter Mary, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends. The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family after a short illness under the tender care of the staff in ICU, Mullingar Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 of Brian Baskett, Ash Lawns, Clonbalt Woods, Longford town and formerly of Padfield Place, Pakuranga, Auckland, New Zealand.
Predeceased by his son David and his sister Phyllis, Brian will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, loving wife and best friend Ann, son Glenn, daughter-in law Fiona, adored grandchildren, Niamh, Caoimhe and Kevin, brother Bill, sisters Judith, Jennifer and Denise, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends in Ireland and his homeland New Zealand.
A private family cremation will take place on Saturday, January 6 at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Beloved wife of Patrick (Pat) and much loved mother of Ger, Orla and Lisa. Max will be received into St Patrick's RC Church, Deedmore Rd, Coventry on Thursday, January 11 at 5pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Friday, January 12 at 10.30am followed by Cremation at Canley Crematorium in the Cannon Chapel. Afterwards at Stoke Boys Rugby Club where a celebration of Max's life will continue. Donations would be gratefully received for Coventry Moyton Hospice Clifford Bridge Rd Coventry CV2 2HJ.
