Kevin Pompa, who lives at 3 Ard na Cassa Manor, Dublin Road, Longford, was caught driving without insurance by Longford Gardaí at 3.30am on May 31 this year.
A late night food dash for a pregnant wife proved a very costly journey when the driver - 19 year old Kevin Pompa - found himself convicted and fined €400 for driving without insurance on the night in question.

Pompa, who lives at 3 Ard na Cassa Manor, Dublin Road, Longford, appeared before Judge Bernadette Owens in Longford District Court.
When asked for the facts, Sergeant Mark Mahon told the court the incident had taken place on May 31, 2026 at 3.30 in the morning on the Dublin Road in Longford.
He said Gardaí were on patrol in a public place when they stopped Pompa who went on to admit he did not have insurance to drive the vehicle.
The vehicle was immediately seized by Gardaí.
Solicitor Diarmuid Quinn told the court that his client, who has no previous convictions, had used his father’s vehicle “as his wife was pregnant so he was running some errands for her.”
Replied Judge Owens, “This happened at half three in the morning! What errands was he running?”
“She had cravings, Judge,” Solr Quinn explained, “I assume it was food of some sort. That’s what he tells me.”
Solr Quinn said his client accepted he didn’t have insurance at the time but has since purchased one. “I would ask the court to exercise its discretion and not disqualify him on this first instance,” he said.
Judge Owens convicted and fined Pompa €400 euro with six months to pay.
