Lots of festive cheer in Longford as Santa switches on Christmas lights

There was a wonderful festive atmosphere in Market Square, Longford town on Friday evening as thousands gathered to watch Santa Claus perform the official switching on of the Christmas lights.

Much to the delight of the young boys and girls, Santa arrived in his sleigh and on stage, he received assistance from Longford Chamber of Commerce President Niamh Donlon and Longford Municipal District Cathaoirleach Cllr Seamus Butler to switch on the lights and transform Longford into a Christmas wonderland.

Santa, accompanied by his elves, also performed a number of well known Christmas songs.
