Longford is set to become one of the leading counties in tourism, according to Cllr Pat O'Toole, with an influx of up to 10,000 people a week to potentially hit the county thanks to Center Parcs Longford Forest.

Cllr Micheál Carrigy was also quick to point out the benefits of a focus on tourism during last week's Longford County Council meeting to discuss the Regional Spatial & Economical Strategy (RSES).

“There are huge opportunities and welcome opportunities within the environment section with regard to tourism. I feel it should be higher up in the economic strategy.”
